Terms and Conditions
By using this website or booking a visit with Silt Mesh Vault, you agree to the terms set out below. These form a binding agreement between you and Silt Mesh Vault for any services requested.
1. User obligations
- 1.1 Provide accurate information about your pond and its access when requesting a visit.
- 1.2 Ensure reasonable and safe access to the pond area for the technician on the agreed date.
- 1.3 Inform us in advance of any known hazards, restricted access, or special considerations relevant to the visit.
- 1.4 This service is intended for residential garden pond owners; commercial use requires separate arrangement.
2. Liability and warranties
- 2.1 Services are performed with reasonable skill and care, but no specific outcome or timeline is guaranteed given the natural variability of pond conditions.
- 2.2 Silt Mesh Vault is not liable for pre-existing liner damage, equipment faults, or fish health issues unrelated to the work performed.
- 2.3 Liability, where it arises, is limited to the value of the specific service booked.
- 2.4 We are not responsible for delays or inability to perform a visit due to circumstances beyond reasonable control, including severe weather.
3. Legal information and dispute resolution
- 3.1 These terms are governed by the laws of Japan.
- 3.2 Any dispute arising from these terms will first be addressed through direct discussion between the parties before any formal proceedings.
- 3.3 If any clause of these terms is found invalid, the remaining clauses continue to apply in full.
- 3.4 These terms may be updated periodically; continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
4. Visits and fees
The fee for each visit is the one shown on its page when you book: ¥2,400 for a seasonal assessment and water reading of about ninety minutes, ¥3,600 for sediment withdrawal and basin rinse of up to 25m³, and ¥4,300 for a filtration review and media refresh. Travel within Tokyo's eastern wards is included; any further travel is quoted before the date is fixed.
5. Before we arrive
- Please let us know about electrical connections near the pond, any recent treatment added to the water and the number of fish.
- Make sure we can reach the pond with hoses and a holding tank; narrow side passages are usually fine if we know about them.
- Avoid feeding fish on the morning of a sediment visit.
6. Care of fish and liners
During sediment withdrawal, fish are moved to an aerated holding tank filled with water from their own pond and returned once the basin has settled. We work with low suction to avoid lifting liners or disturbing planting shelves. Fish are living animals and stress cannot always be prevented; we will stop work if they show signs of distress. We are not responsible for losses caused by disease or water problems present before the visit, but we will record anything we notice.
7. Parts and media
Replacement filter media, UV bulbs or pump parts are only fitted with your agreement and charged at cost, which we tell you before fitting. Removed parts are left with you unless you ask us to dispose of them.
8. Changes and cancellation
You can move or cancel a visit free of charge up to two working days before it. Later cancellations may be charged at half the fee. We may move a visit in heavy rain or when water temperature makes handling fish unwise; in that case there is no charge and we will offer the next suitable date.
9. Payment
Fees are paid by bank transfer within seven days of the visit, or in cash on the day if you prefer, and include consumption tax. Parts or media fitted with your agreement are listed separately on the receipt.
10. Our responsibility
We take care with liners, edging and planting, and we tell you straight away if anything is damaged during a visit. Our liability for a visit is limited to its fee, except where Japanese law does not permit such a limit, such as in cases of intent or gross negligence.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Visits already booked remain under the terms in place when you confirmed the date.
12. Questions about a visit
If anything about a booked visit is unclear, write to info@silt-meshvault.com or call +81 3 3807 3634 and mention the visit date. We would rather answer a question in advance than find a surprise on the day.
13. Records of each visit
Each visit is recorded with its date, the readings taken and any work agreed. You can ask for a copy of these notes at any time, including for visits made in earlier seasons.
